APRIL

Entrance Ceremony

  • First year students come to our school for the first time.
  • Second and third year students welcome the new students.

Welcome Party by the Student Council

  • Second and third year students introduce their club activities and school life to the new students.

Medical Examination

  • Every student must take a medical examination.

School Excursions

  • The third year students make a 3-day school trip to some far-off cities and towns in Japan and visit various sites of historic, cultural and economic importance.
  • The first year students also go on a school excurision for outdoor exercises and camping experience for a few days.

Connecticut-Masago Exchange Program

  • Several students from either Roton Middle School and/or Ponus Ridge Middle School of Norwalk, CT (Connecticut, USA), accompanied by their teachers, visit Masago and stay at Masago students' homes. The visiting American students take part in various exchange programs together with Japanese host students. They also visit scenic spots in other parts of Japan.

Sports Festival

  • We hold "Sports festival" on June 5 (in 2010). All students in each grade are divided into 3 groups, the red, white and blue. We compete against each other's teams. There are many events, such as 100 meter dash, relay races, a tug of war, and so on.

Midterm Examination

  • The midterm examination is scheduled to be held in June, and all the students are required to take the exam.

Chiba City Junior High School Athletic Meet

  • The annual sports meet for junior high school students in Chiba City is scheduled in July, and many athletes from our school compete in the tournaments. We send them our rousing cheers.

Summer Vacation Begins

  • Our summer vacation, the longest vacation of the year, starts on July 20 (in 2010). We look forward to the holidays. We can enjoy doing many things during this vacation period.

Summer Vacation Continues

  • Our summer vacation runs from July 20 to August 30 (in 2010). We go to Juku (cram schools) to study, and/or travel and play sports.

Terminal Examination

  • The end of the first term examination is scheduled early in September.

Fall Vacation

  • The fall vacation is scheduled for October 8-12.

Cultural Show

  • We hold a Cultural Show in October, including live brass band and chorus performances, English language speeches, presentation of reports and exhibits of results from various special studies done by our students.

Chorus Contest

  • Every year, all of our classes take part in one of the biggest annual school events, a chorus contest. School principal's top award (special prize) is given to the best class chosen for their harmony, chorus and music. So, every class practices hard to perform well and get the prize.

  • The winning class of third year students can participate in a big contest for the whole Chiba City. There is also a prize for the best conductor and for the best piano accompanist.

Midterm Examination

  • A midterm examination is scheduled in November.

Classroom Visitation Day

  • Students' parents visit our school on a mid-November day, to see students at work in classroom.

Winter Vacation

  • Winter holidays are scheduled for two weeks from December 24 (2010) (to 1/5). Since we seldom have homework, we are happy! However, the third year students must study hard for high school entrance examinations.

New Year's Calligraphy

  • We write our favorite words with FUDE (Japanese ink brush), such as for example, 'hope' and 'dream.' We call this event "KAKIZOME" (literally meaning, "the first calligraphy of the New Year") in Japan.


FEBRUARY

"White" School

  • Second year students go to Chiba-mura in Gunma Prefecture and stay there for 3 nights from February 12 - 15, for the so-called "White School."  Students stay in log cabins and special houses, cook their own meals, go for various winter sports and dance around together.

Final Exams

  • We have final examinations for the school year. The tests are conducted by our school teachers on six or seven subjects.


MARCH

Farewell Party

  • We hold a farewell party for the soon-to-be-graduating third-year students early in March. We perform plays and sing songs.

Graduation Ceremony

  • The graduation ceremony is scheduled for March 11 (2011). The outgoing third year students say good-bye to this school and set off on their own individual paths.
